Why primary sources
Historical summaries have their place. A primary source does something different: it lets a reader encounter the vocabulary, assumptions, evidence, and argument of another time.
That encounter should not require wrestling with broken scans or facsimile pages. Our job is to remove those barriers and state clearly what was changed.

Reading access
The website supports keyboard navigation, visible focus, text that remains usable at 200 percent zoom, reduced motion, and media transcripts. Book metadata and retailer destinations are stated in text rather than communicated by color alone.
